Located near Skinner Park, and the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts (SAPA), the design is sensitive to its predominantly retail/commercial context. It responds with an architectural language that is bold, and contemporary, that is, the expression of the canopy’s structure, and the uniquely shaped totem pole inspired by the structural elements of the canopy. The Client wanted to go beyond the typical expectation of regular gas stations by incorporating car wash service space. The design optimizes site square footage, with opportunities for adequate brand
